Diamond Certification

A certificate is your diamond’s independent report card: an unbiased, scientific assessment of exactly what you’re buying. Never buy a significant diamond without one.

What a certificate actually is

A diamond certificate—or grading report—is a document from an independent gemmological laboratory that records a diamond’s precise characteristics: the 4Cs, exact measurements, proportions and any treatments. Crucially, it is issued by a neutral third party with no stake in the sale, which makes it objective.

IGI & GIA — the labs we trust

Every certified diamond is graded by IGI (International Gemological Institute) or GIA (Gemological Institute of America)—two of the most respected names in the industry. Both are renowned for consistency and integrity.

What's on the report

  • Carat weight — measured to the hundredth of a carat
  • Cut grade, plus polish and symmetry ratings
  • Colour grade on the D–Z scale
  • Clarity grade with a plotted map of inclusions
  • Measurements and proportions — depth, table, girdle and more
  • Confirmation that the diamond is laboratory-grown
  • A unique report number, often laser-inscribed on the girdle

Why it matters

  • Confidence you're paying for the exact quality described — not a guess
  • An apples-to-apples way to compare two diamonds honestly
  • Essential documentation for insurance and appraisal
  • Protection of your diamond's resale and upgrade value
